Let's get this show on the road!

Today Anders and I shared an orange outside in the snow and sun. We discussed the fear of making choices, and also how much easier it is to make choices on behalf of others. Coming back in we reflected upon how easy it is just to sit at a desk and think about doing stuff. Doing a diploma on public transport, it would seem intensely stupid not to be out there, riding a bus, talking to people! So I made this sheet, and gave it to Anders so he could fill in the blanks. Actually, he did more than that - he added tasks for me to do.
I have to get to Holmenbukta. I can use all means to get there, except my mobile and my computer. So, I guess I'm off... I'll let you know how it turns out.
Au revoir!
Task definition #1
What: Develop services that make public transport easier, more fun and more effective.
Why: I want to make it more convenient to use public transport, increase the desirability of PT, and in that way perhaps get more people to use it. Also I want to enable the frequent users of PT to get a better overview and increased confidence in the system.
Focus: The main focus of my project will be to create user experiences and increased value for the end-user. The project should develop these experiences based on conversations with and observations of ordinary people as much as possible.
Technology: I also want to look into technology as an enabler of innovation. The different companies involved in PT in the Oslo area are currently in the process of implementing two major techologies: the SIS (real-time information system), and Flexus (electronic ticketing system). I want to try to combine these technologies and see what potential they have together. This said, I need to remain open-minded and remember not to search for technologies that merely
need to be used.
Welcome to okcommuter
Have you ever wondered why people seem reluctant to use public transport?
Is it unreliable, too difficult to use, or are the prices just too high? What happens if the journey becomes more of an experience than merely travelling, and what added value can be created for the end-users?
During this spring I'll look into how new technology can work as an enabler for innovation of new services for Oslos system of public transport.
